Blue Postcard in the Mail is NOT from BSB

The postcard is NOT from Bath State Bank!

Did you receive a little blue postcard in your mailbox this week? In the top left corner, the postcard reads: "Important Notice: Immediate Response Needed."

BSB didn't sell your data to another company. Mortgages are public record. The information about your home purchase (or even a home refinance) and certain information of your mortgage loan are recorded among the land records in the jurisdiction where the property is located. Companies, including scammers, have the ability to research publicly-listed records.

If you look closely in the very very fine print, the postcard lists a disclaimer stating they're not affiliated with the homeowner's actual mortgage company. This information is often difficult to spot. This company is attempting to gain business by trying to make our customers believe our financial institution is involved. WE ARE NOT INVOLVED!

Homeowners concerned about these misleading communications should:

• Look for the fine print that typically states the sender is not affiliated with your mortgage company.

• Never call phone numbers or respond to email addresses provided on suspicious mailing

• Shred the postcard

Received something questionable? Always do your own due diligence when receiving a phone call, email, text or piece of mail regarding your finances. Whether that is a charge made to your card, a relative urgently needing money wired or inquiries to your mortgage, etc. You work hard for your money. Bath State Bank is here to help you protect it.
